Innovation leader Fabian Vogelsteller is an absolute rockstar in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space. He is the author of the groundbreaking standards ERC-20 and ERC-725 and the developer of many open source projects including feindura-Flat File CMS, Ethereum’s Mist browser and the Ethereum Wallet. Fabian also is the founder and Chief Blockchain Architect of LUKSO.
Fabian has been interested in web technologies since he was 14 years old. From 2001 until 2015 he worked at frozeman.de as a freelance web designer. 2013 he spent a year working as a web developer, building the tunedIn web app with meteor.js and then another year on refactoring and improving the applications code base and interface for Töchter & Söhne. Then his interest in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin led him to be part of the ambitious Etherum project. From 2015 until 2018 he shaped the Ethereum space, being in charge of the DApp and more user facing applications and developer tools. In this time he became the author of the Mist Browser, the first decentralized web3 browser, of the Ethereum wallet, web3.js, ERC-20 and ERC-725. ERC-20 is a token standard he proposed with Vitalik Buterin, which initiated the ICO wave and spurred a new era of investment and crowd ownership. Since 2017, Fabian is the founder and Chief Blockchain Architect of LUKSO, leading the concept, design and development of its blockchain.
Fabian and web 3.0
When we talk about web 3.0 we mean the next generation web. As a further development of the web 2.0, semantic web, artificial intelligence, connectivity, 3D graphics and decentralization play an important role. The semantic web allows new web technologies to understand the correct meaning of actual words without being reduced to numbers or keywords. This new skill combined with artificial intelligence will make it possible for computers to understand us like humans and satisfy our needs in a better way. Information is also connected in a stronger way due to the semantic web, using data more efficiently, which brings the user experience to another level. Moreover, services and websites will provide 3D graphics, for example in games or e-commerce. So our experience, regardless of being in the gaming world, or when decisions have to be made before buying a product, will shift up in this new web. But our next generation web is also supposed to be decentralized. This means for example that there is a distribution of trust, so that non-trusting parties can interact with each other. Making this typical blockchain advantage easily reachable for everyone in the web could make a groundbreaking difference because different parties could interact with each other without the need of any trusted middlemen. So now the only question is, how do we get (to) web 3.0 and create a good and easy user experience for everyone? Fabian Vogelsteller has some answers.
